Haeden Museum's relay exhibition, "New Generation," which discovers and presents promising emerging artists, is celebrating its second year. The artists introduced in the "2022 New Generation" exhibition—Kim Jin-gi, Yoon Yeo-seon, Lee Hye-seong, Park A-reum, and Ryu Han-sol—explore the environment we live in and the medium of visual arts, constructing and realizing unique artistic worlds. The world captured through the eyes of these young artists undergoes a rearrangement, shedding familiar appearances and rearranging into psychological or social spaces, places where memories overlap and scatter, or visions of dreamed utopias. We hope that the distinctive expressive features of each artist in this year's relay exhibition will provide a fresh stimulus to those visiting Haeden Museum.
This year, the "New Generation" exhibition introduces the artist Kim Jin-gi as its first participant, primarily using photo collage and painting as main mediums. Adding expressive touches that seem to burst forth onto captured photographic images in his previous works, Kim infuses emotions condensed within the underbelly of society. For this exhibition, he takes as subjects old photos of the artist's family and intimate acquaintances. Kim's unique touch, coupled with images of his long-forgotten mother's happy laughter and his brother's open-hearted childhood, adds an eerie impression, dynamically reviving forgotten memories and resisting the erosion of time by rejecting the weathering effects time tends to impose.
The exhibition will proceed in the following order:
Kim Jin-gi: March 1 to May 1
Yoon Yeo-seon: May 3 to June 26
Lee Hye-seong: June 28 to August 21
Park A-reum: August 23 to October 23
Ryu Han-sol: October 25 to December 18
